The Georgia Swarm have started the season 2-0 after beating the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday night 12-6.

This win also marks head coach Ed Comeau’s 100th regular season win. He is the fourth coach in NLL history to reach this milestone.

The Swarm defense was led by goaltender Mike Poulin, who had 42 saves on 48 shots on goal.

The first quarter was slow for both teams despite being known as two high scoring offenses. Bryan Cole and Randy Staats recorded the first pair of goals for the Swarm.

In the second quarter, both squads found their stride and settled in.

The second quarter ended with a score of 6-3, although it could have easily been 6-4. The Swarm challenged a Philadelphia goal by Matt Rambo that was reversed after review showed he was in the crease before the ball crossed the goal line.

After halftime, Shayne Jackson and Lyle Thompson were both able to post hat tricks. For Thompson, it was already his second of the year. Mike Poulin also added an assist. The Swarm would head into the final quarter leading 9-4.

Georgia wrapped up an impressive victory in the fourth with goals from Miles Thompson, Adam Wiedemann and Lyle Thompson, giving Lyle Thompson seven points on the night.

The Swarm are on a bye this week, but will look for their third win on December 28th at home against Colorado.
