Watching the White Sox-Phillies game was probably not number one on everybody’s to-do-list on Friday night, but the wildest thing we saw over the weekend in sports happened in this match-up.
The Phillies were tied in the 14th inning with the White Sox, and they decided to put outfielder Roman Quinn on the mound and move pitcher Vince Velasquez to left field. One might think that Velasquez would be a liability in the field, but it turns out he was the star of the evening.
Velasquez went out and made the best catch of the year for the Philadelphia outfield. He is also the first pitcher to record an outfield assist in 39 years. Hats off to Vince Velasquez for providing us with the wildest thing that we saw this weekend.
